Who We Are
Meet Avory! Avory is the force behind Adams Equestrian. She has been fascinated with horses since a young age. She started riding around the age of 6, taking lessons in both English and Western riding styles and then expanding into many other disciplines (see reference letter further below for a full list of her accomplishments and experience). She enjoys competing in shows and trail riding but her real passion has turned to teaching others. Avory is our instructor, trainer, and manager for setting up lessons. She is a remarkable young woman and truly does it all!
Meet The Horses
Whiskey:
Whiskey is Avorys favorite horse of all time! Whiskey is very well mannered, great with kids, and puts up with all sorts of shenanigans that Avory puts him through. She began riding Whiskey in 2020 while taking lessons from Whiskeys former owner Shauna Haskell. In 2023, Shauna sold her ranch in Saint George and moved to Arkansas. Whiskey was sold to another rider who was taking lessons at the time. Avory was heart broken, but the new owner let her visit Whiskey (who now lived 40 minutes away) as frequently as she could. In 2024, Whiskeys new owner decided he could no longer care for Whiskey. He reached out to Avory to see if she was interested in buying him (she was!). Whiskey became part of the family in August of 2024 and has been a joy to the entire family!
Tex:
Tex is a happy horse with more go than woah. Tex was previously used as a trail pack horse with little arena work. He joined the herd in august of 2025 when he was gifted to Avory’s boyfriend, Easton. He had a tendency to be spooky and fast, his last owners said he was too much horse for them. After a few months of consistent training Tex has grown into an amazing horse. He often becomes a favorite of those who ride him! Being that he is still sensitive he is mostly ridden by our Advanced students. Tex loves running with Gizmo, going on trails, and rubbing his face.
Kona:
Kona is the best horse anyone could ask for! He joined our program in May of 2025. Kona loves to be around Whiskey, eat plenty of treats, and splash in his water bucket. Kona is a registered APHA paint horse who was in and out of the showing circuit in northern Utah for much of his younger years. He was brought to St. George by his former owners and used in the local 4-H. Kona is a wonderful all around horse with a big personality. He is great with kids and has been an awesome addition to the Adams Equestrian family.
Gizmo:
Gizmo was purchased as a project horse in August of 2025, and he is the first horse avory has trained on her own. He is a mustang who was taken off of the range in 2019. He came from a family with young kids and went mostly untouched due to his unpredictability. After many months of work Gizmo has come a long way. He is currently being trained in western and english disciplines with the hope of showing! Gizmo is a silly horse who enjoys a good scratching, treats, and jumping.
Mac:
Big Mac, Macaroni, Mac and Cheese, Mac A doodle Do or simply just Mac is a favorite of the kids. Mac is a silly horse with an interesting backstory. Mac was purchased by his past owners from a ranch where he had been used as a trail horse. He joined the Adams Equestrian family in October of 2025. Due to Unfortunate circumstances Macs previous owner was not able to properly care for him, and he came to us severely malnourished with overgrown hooves. After a couple months of extra care and feed Mac is thriving! Mac is a great kid horse and is often used in our beginner lessons! He loves treats, a good roll in the arena, and to be spoiled with pets!
Chief & Buddy:
Neecheif and Buddy are the newest additions to Adams Equestrian. Due to them joining our program in late January of 2026 we don’t know too much about these boys personalities yet. However we are so exited to get to know them and grateful to have them join us!
Reference Letter
“To Whom it May Concern;
I, Shauna Haskell-Lytle, Owner of "Haskell Riding Academy, LLC" (formerly "Diamond Valley Equestrian Center"). I have been an Instructor/Horse Trainer for over 40 years. I have written this letter about a wonderful former student of mine.
Avory Adams started taking riding & horsemanship lessons from me I believe when she was 10 yrs old. She had been with another trainer for a few years but was not advancing like she wanted.
Avory was one of those sort of quiet types that bloom when you least expect them to. She started in English adding some dressage skills and tests, then jumping fundamentals. I taught her the basic showmanship skills, then western and basic reining fundamentals. She rode and showed a black TB/Paint mare I had named Twinkie in English, dressage & jumping. She was diligent in riding her since she always seemed to try and unseat my students. She rode her to the utmost ability and made a wonderful partnership together. She also rode my other registered show horses (Barn Names): Whiskey, Max, Tag, Vegas, Emma, Doc, Lisha, Mattie, Jasper, Katika & Bey X. I could put her on any horse I had from 3 yrs old to my older seasoned horses and she mastered riding them with the utmost poise & skill.
She learned how to desensitize, how to start to train from the ground with longlines, then into the saddle. She has very soft quiet hands and voice with horses and excelled in every discipline I taught her. She would come and clean stalls in lieu of lessons twice a week. She wanted to work for her lessons, not just have her parents pay for them. She would live at our barn if she could have! She would also help me while I was giving lessons, helping teach grooming, saddling, how to bridle the horses etc. She was so good with the kids and adults alike. Then I started giving her "The Reins" so to speak to give some lessons on her own. She never let me down! She is diligent, hardworking, persistent, knowledgeable and kind.
I am so elated that she wants to follow in my footsteps since I am now semi-retired. You will not regret learning riding fundamentals from Avory! I highly recommend her if you are wanting lessons from a wonderful horse riding instructor.”
